Nursing Blogosphere Rounds & Tidbits
Instead of an article about just one subject today I thought it might be useful and interesting to search around for some really good nursing blog posts and give you the opportunity to learn more about a variety of topics by exploring nursing conversations in the blogosphere!
A Family Nurse Practitioner practicing in rural Florida, "Nurse Practitioners Save Lives" received an e-mail from a nursing student who needed to write a paper about advanced practice nursing including speaking to an advanced practice nurse, so she took the time to turn the student's questions and her answers into a blog post I think you'll find very interesting - "A Nurse Practitioner Interview From Me For A Nursing Student".
Did you know that Forida was one of only two states where NP's can't write presciptions for controlled substances? How insane is that? You'll find out just how hard that is on patients when you read the interview, and if you're from Florida I hope it'll inspire you to contact your Florida congressmen and senators and let them know that Nurse Practitioners need the ability to write for controlled substances too!
As a nurse for many years working at the bedside as well as in leadership positions; Kathy over at Nurse Connect has seen and heard it all. In my meanderings this morning I also ran across a site that lists some useful nursing applications for Windows, Mac, Mobile (Palm, Pocket PC) including "Learn CPR", a "Nursing Care Plan Creator", and many others of interest for nursing students as well as practicing nurses.
